Dr. Couvillion welcomes patients from other states and around the world. Many patients choose to travel to Houston for their plastic surgery journey, and our team is dedicated to making the experience as comfortable and seamless as possible. Below are the steps you can expect when planning your visit.

Five Steps for Out-of-Town Plastic Surgery Patients

1. Contact Us

Contact us by phone or contact form so we can learn more about your goals and the procedures you are interested in. A member of our team will contact you as soon as possible to gather additional information. You will be asked to provide photographs so Dr. Couvillion can better understand your concerns before your consultation. Please note, photos are used to help prepare for your consultation and are not a replacement for an in-person evaluation.

2. Photos for Your Consultation

Your initial consultation will be completed through a virtual appointment. If you schedule a virtual consultation with Dr. Couvillion, you will be asked to submit photographs before your appointment. These images allow Dr. Couvillion to evaluate your concerns, discuss your options, and provide a more detailed treatment plan during your consultation. Photos are typically submitted through your patient portal and are required for out-of-town consultations.

3. Virtual Consultation

Your virtual consultation is your opportunity to meet Dr. Couvillion, discuss your goals, ask questions, and learn more about your surgical options. Dr. Couvillion will create a personalized treatment plan based on your discussion. Your plan may be adjusted after your in-person examination. Our team will also review estimated costs, financing options, and next steps. A deposit is required to reserve your surgery date.

4. Preoperative Appointment

Out-of-town patients are generally asked to arrive in Houston at least two days before surgery. This allows time to complete your preoperative appointment, receive prescriptions, and finalize all surgical details. During this visit, Dr. Couvillion will perform a physical examination, take measurements, answer any remaining questions, and review your postoperative instructions. A virtual preoperative appointment may also be completed with a member of our team before your procedure.

5. Initial Recovery

Your recovery timeline will depend on the procedure performed. Dr. Couvillion and your care team will provide personalized instructions to help support your healing. Most out-of-town patients should plan to remain in Houston for several days after surgery for their initial recovery period and follow-up appointment. Additional follow-up visits may be completed virtually when appropriate.

Our team can also assist with recommendations for local recovery accommodations, trusted recovery facilities, and additional support services during your healing process.

Traveling to Houston
